I like using google trends to see how different things compare. Today, I look at Doctor Who (2005) vs. Battlestar Galactica (2004).

What surprised me about this chart is that they both would experience bursts in traffic at the same time. Not sure the cause of that…

  1. Perhaps it has to do with the standard seasonal nature of television programming, general trends towards mass media, etc? Actually, I don’t think they overly that well at all. It seems that Doctor Who spikes between February and May, which really makes sense. Yet, Battlestar spiked at odd intervals in the beginning, likely due to its (re-)start as a mini-series, and then continued with what appear to be December/January/February launches and the odd jumps according to the releases of Razor and Caprica.

    This is information I’m hypothesizing based solely on this graph and not based on any actual factual knowledge or research — god forbid I might actually fact-check! 😉

      It isn’t like I’m doing anything more than asking Google what the trend was. 🙂 I just found it interesting that there were occasional matches.
