QuickLaTeX is the dog’s bollocks

I just wanted to post today to enthuse about an absolutely fantastic plugin for WordPress. It is called “QuickLatex” and it lets me put my love of LaTeX to good use. LaTeX is a document processing system based on TeX that puts out absolutely fantastic printing, particularly in the math and science categories. For instance… here is a formula that should be familiar to anyone with a high school algebra education:
<br /> \[<br /> \begin{array}{*{20}c} {x = \frac{{ - b \pm \sqrt {b^2 - 4ac} }}{{2a}}} & {{\rm{when}}} & {ax^2 + bx + c = 0} \\ \end{array}<br /> \]<br />
and it was generated with:
<br /> \[<br /> \begin{array}{*{20}c} {x = \frac{{ - b \pm \sqrt {b^2 - 4ac} }}{{2a}}} & {{\rm{when}}} & {ax^2 + bx + c = 0} \\ \end{array}<br /> \]<br />

It can do a lot of other things as well, and you’ll see me use it occasionally when I paste a formula into my blog. If you’re doing any math or science blogging on WordPress, definately check it out. The author, Pavel Holoborodko, follows up to comments on his blog and gives away use of the server he built. Impressive. Most impressive.

    One tip. You can force QuickLaTeX to show source code of the formula instead of rendering it.
    Just use example=true as a parameter of latex tag.
    I added this feature specifically for those who write about QuickLaTeX :-).
    Source code for your example becomes:

    [latex example=true]
    \[
    \begin{array}{*{20}c} {\displaystyle{x = \frac{{ - b \pm \sqrt {b^2 - 4ac} }}{{2a}}}} \end{array}
    \]
    [/latex]

    I used \displaystyle for [latex]x[/latex] to make it appear as true displayed formula. So now it looks like:

    \begin{array}{*{20}c} {\displaystyle{x = \frac{{ - b \pm \sqrt {b^2 - 4ac} }}{{2a}}}} \end{array}
    \]
    [/latex]
